I hear so much talk about a lot of great bassists...but no Mark Sandman threads! What gives guys! What a cool dude, I don't know any other dudes who play slide bass. Good music too. If you don't Mark, chek him out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1iTZ...eature=related

Myself included, a while ago I was absolutely obsessed with Morphine, I still love them, but I've eased off a bit to avoid burning out on them like I have with a few other bands.
I play bass with a slide occasionally because of Mr. Sandman... haven't set up a 2 string bass yet though... YET.

He was just playing those crazy basses through a few stompboxes and an old SVT - sounded amazing.

After that, I was hooked on live music and, uh, Morphine. They sounded so amazing! Personally, I dig "The Night" quite a bit, regarding their albums.

I was on IFC this evening and watched a great indie movie (Spanking the Monkey) and Morphine did nearly the whole soundtrack.
...on another note, if y'all are into a mix between Bourbon Princess and Morphine, you should check out AKACOD, Female lead bassist (from BP) with the sax and drums from Morphine. |

One of my all time favorites and great player.
