What!!!!!!!!!

That is unbelievable. He was the only dude I ever watched on Youtube. Such a cool style and a really helpful guy. And really those playalongs just make people check out tunes and artists they've never heard. I'm pissed at the world now.

I suppose it's time to report all the other cats doing "playalongs" on youtube.
Taking those down will save a ton of bandwidth on their servers...

MarlowDK's were instructional and informative, rather than just attempted showing-off.

This is what happens when the lawyers get involved...

I guess the next step is, I'll be humming a tune on the street and three cops and a lawyer will tackle me to the ground and stick a modified handcuff on my tongue (a "tongue cuff"?) and slap me with a citation and an order to appear in court. By which after I pay the appropriate fine and reimburse the music company, I can get the tongue cuff removed.

Judge: How do you pleed?
Me: Bww, wwww wwww!
Judge: What did you say?
Me: BWWW WWW WWW! (Grabs paper and rights, if you take this blasted thing off my tongue, I'll tell you!!!!)

This sucks so much...

He recently started moving all of his "Lick of the day" videos to youtube, as he'd had problems with reliability, speed & quality of other video hosts. He'd got through at least 150 videos I think out of the 200+ he's got... A VERY time consuming task to say the least. Now his account gets suspended, and all that is for nothing. I'm guessing the account is suspended for having so many copyright infringing videos, and rather than notify/remove them, they've just outright stopped it. Disgusting, really.

There is no other reliable video host out there that can be used for marlowe's site really... He's tried several with no long term success. To host the videos himself, when his site first started & had what, 2,000 members? He used 150GB of traffic in a month... Bandwidth is very expensive, and for now 11,500+ members I'm sure you can understand that's not something he can justify - without charging for it, which he's reluctant to do.

I've offered to host all of his LOTD videos & lessons again on my youtube account, hopefully he'll take me up on that... He'll still be making his lessons etc., everyone just check his site for details

That's just great! You can put whatever crap you want on youtube including beating your school-mates, but if it's informative, forget it!

Yes, they not only removed all of his vids ... they suspended his account indefinitely, so I wouldn't look there for any goodness any time soon.

But, playbassnow.com is his homepage and he has posted an explanation and update as of this AM, so check it out, yo.

03.09.09 ... the day the groove died on Youtube.

Ditto on everything mentioned. I really enjoyed watching his videos and trying a few of his licks out. Definitely will visit his site and support.

I think it was something to do with this site -

http://www.thru-you.com/#/videos/3/

this guy has mixed lots of youtube musicians to create original tracks.
awesome idea and quality tracks.

the thruyou site has been hugely popular over the last few days...and you can follow the links to the artists featured.
He used MarlowDK's basslines in this one - (first shows up at 1:10)

http://www.thru-you.com/#/videos/1/
so I suspect that he's been flagged for removal because of the publicity 'thuyou' has generated.
