Just wondering how to he gets that amount of
punch and tightness in every note
playing at that speed

This is fingers.... Not amp. Not bass. Not strings. Just good old fashioned muscular technique.

I once had him in front of me in a music shop.
He picked up a standard Jazz and plugged into a GK half stack. It sounded like it was compressed and super active, tight and perfectly levelled. All in his fingers.
