So who else here likes the legend from uruguay? :] Mendez is without a doubt my favorite bassist. On 11/1 I was lucky enough to see Opeth on their Heritage tour in Baltimore and from waiting hours before the show I got right up to the rail where nothing was between me and the stage. I was right in front of Mendez and right beside Mikael. His playing was AMAZING, I swear he never misses a note and hes always throwing out these awesome fills & grooves live that arent on the cd tracks. His work on Heritage is great too and Im sure alot of you guys would love it if you havent listened to it already. Has anyone else on here seen mr. Mendez in person? :]

Excellent bassist. Can only think of good things to say about him, although I wish some of his work on some Opeth material was just a BIT louder. Great stuff though.

I preferred their prior bassist Johan DeFarfalla myself. Martin's a good supporting player but that's it. He never stands out - like ever. That is no doubt how Mikael prefers it but personally I think the the best bands come out of collaboration rather than one member being the entire driving force.
