Sure, he co-wrote some of the worst pop-rock songs in the last 20 years ("We Built This City" by Starship and "These Dreams" by Heart). But, as a bass player, this guy is the real deal. I recently dug out my CD of Bernie Taupin's TRIBE. That's right -- Bernie fronting his own band and handling all the lead vocals himself, brilliantly. Ah, glorious 1987! Although exceptionally hard to find these days, I strongly recommend trying to track down a copy and hear this man's playing for yourself. His fretless work alone on that disc comes dangerously close to the greatness of Mr. Palladino. Remarkable!

Anyone here already a fan?

I liked his CD "In the house of stone and light" quite a bit. Nice production, and nicely crafted. Some of it is a bit syrup-y...I like some of the stuff he co-wrote with Go West as well.
