This trek would be close to, if not, alittle over 2hrs one way.

Um. No. At least in my situation. Married, 51 years old, two kids, a full time job that's all the way in DC that's already an hour commute each way and needing to be a dad and husband on the weekends. Well and during the week to. So I'd turn that down. On the other hand if I was single and in my 20's I probably would do it. As long as I had a car that got decent MPG

I travel downstairs to my basement. Lucky me, I get to host practice at my house. And I always have drums and guitars to mess with when I'm bored at home.

Me to. Right now I'm in two bands. Practice for one of them is two streets over and the other is in my basement.

I'm in a couple of cover bands and an original group. We hardly ever practice. I usually just show up to the gig prepared.

This. Maybe a little farther. My schedule is so durned packed right now that I'd only be making the drive every other weekend.

That's the plan for my second band, the one that meets in my basement. Maybe a once a month rehearsal just to arrange songs the way we want them. Record those rehearsals load the files on Dropbox then everybody can practice at home and show up prepared

Bassist currently in Virginia Beach, VA. Playing in the Dave Johnson Band. Originals and classic rock & roll covers along the oceanfront clubs. Would like to get a number for the MD/VA/DC group? Thanks!!

I'm kind of new to this idea of numbers and clubs and such but sounds fun. I'm a very soon to be graduate returning to my hometown half an hour west of DC in NoVa. I'm looking to get involved with some other artists and have a generally good time jamming.

Is there a VA component to the MD/DC club?

Are there any Virginia Members here? Is there a separate Virginia members club?

I'm playing the hard rock Pittsburgh on Friday and then the emerald tavern in parkville on Saturday. Sunday I will be at the recher theatre for the school of rock Christmas party. Everyone is invited. Bring a canned food item. It's a benefit for the md food bank.

My band finally has a name, a gig, and a FB page

The Timmie Metz Band

We are playing at Rockafellas in Gaithersburg on Sat the 15th starting at 9pm.

It will be my first public gig in 10-15 years, but our bandleader plays acoustic shows all over the area, and we are borrowing our lead guitarist from local cover band who gigs regularly.

Wow, Johnny, that's quite a spread of venues! 3 piece at the Emerald? Who all will you be playing with there?

Mark

I missed this... I've been away from TB for awhile. I'll be happy to shamelessly self-promote. I'm in MD, and am now down to two bands. The websites should be in my sig, and here's the run-down:

HighTest is a power-trio-with-lead-singer, we play modern and classic hard rock: Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Alice In Chains, STP, RHCP, Nickelback, Metallica.

Too Many Daves is a "big band": eleven members including 5 piece horn section, Hammond B3 with leslies, male and female lead singer. We play mostly classic rock, blues, R&B, with a few newer tunes. Set list includes Tower of Power, Chicago, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Temptations, Delbert McClinton, Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana.

My gig schedule has slowed down since the Bad Weather Boyz broke up, but here's what I got (prolly more Fat Daddy gigs coming up, too):

New Year's Eve: Fat Daddy Saloon, Laurel, w/HighTest
Sat 1/12/13 – Perrys, Odenton, w/HighTest
Sat 1/26/13 – Sullys, Chantilly VA, w/Too Many Daves
Sat 3/16/13 – Perrys, Odenton, w/HighTest
Sat 3/30/13 – Sonomas, Columbia, w/HighTest
Sat 4/20/13 – Sullys, Chantilly VA, w/Too Many Daves
Sat 5/4/13 – Perrys, Odenton, w/HighTest
