Masakazu Hara is the Bassist of "The Band Apart" a indie/jazz/rock fusion band from Japan. he's amazing... He dose things with a Fender Jazz & a pick that i've never seen or heard before. Amazing & beautiful things. He can start off so simple & take it to that crazy level of *** is he doing? Is there anyone else out there that plays like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yZhK...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3n3g...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuV1W...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kCd8a9cnB8

Sorry about the links but it's hard to ask people if there are any other bassist out there like this when not many people know who this guy is or even pronounce his name. This can give you a visual & ear reference to what im talking about. -Thanks

No problem. They tour alot with another band I love from the US called "Mock Orange" I've known about these guys for about 3years now & I thought is was about time to share. I've been playing bass with a pick for 18 years now & Masakazu Hara makes me proud to do so.

Word! Zach Grace from "Mock Orange" is another pick playing bassist that churns my butter. http://www.myspace.com/mockorange I've met him on tour twice & he's as cool to watch play as he is to hang with. Listen to his intro on "Song In D" on their new CD.
