Matt Campbell with Marc Broussard

Just saw Marc Broussard over the weekend. Most people here know about Calvin Tunrner, an absolutely ridiculously smooth and funky player. Most of you probably don't know about Matt Campbell tho! I'm a huge fan of Marc Broussard's music and more so his live show. I was really excited to see him especially because I wanted to hear Calvin Turner play. I was a little disappointed when I found out he wasn't playing with Marc on this tour........ But that all went away when I heard Matt Campbell play. The guy has groove for days and can play any style. Totally filled the shoes and blew me away.

If you've never seen Marc Broussard live you need to check it out. The live show is incredible and he only hires top notch musicians. Theres a lot of musical freedom in the show and they never play anything the same way twice. Not to mention Marc Broussard is just a ridiculously talented guy. I mean talent just pours out of this guy....... There is a killer opening group too, Sarah and Christian Dugas, they are reallllllyyyyy talented and I expect them to have a lot of success in he near future.

All in all it was an amazing show!!! I couldnt believe tickets were $15..... One of the greatest live groups you can see right now. Go check em out!!

Forgot to mention that Matt Campbell was one of the nicest guys I've ever met too. Talked gear and playing with me for almost an hour after the show, took pictures, put up with my slightly drunk girl friend, and was all smiles the whole time. Haha. Great guy and great player.

Bought his first album when he was opening for DMB. My impression was that the album lacked soul, was overlyproduced, and overall never really did anything for me. \

I will have to check him out again and see what he is up to.

If you're talking about Momentary Setback than yeah....... But if you haven't heard his albums Carenco or Keep Coming Back you definitely need to check them out. If soul and feeling is what you're looking for he's got it by the truck load. There's also a "cover" album called S.O.S. It's all old school r&b and soul covers.
