he was too good for that band anyway. he'll move to better things.. hopefully with a singer that has control over his pitch.

Matt was awesome, so that's a bummer.

But word is Shaun Cooper and John Nolan are back in the band, which is friggin' awesome if true. Tell All Your Friends is def. one of my favorite albums of all time.

The old TBS is coming back and shaun cooper is a great bassist, but Matt is better, both ****ing great...
the thing is Matt is good for their current style but when it comes to TAYF (one of my fav albums of the decade) shaun owns that ****
he adds like this reggae groove to them it's sick
don't get me wrong Matt is one of my influences, but its about style+the music

I can't believe this, the first record was cool but the last two albums were amazing and really showed a high level of songwriting and musicality compared to the first album.

I'm actually gutted, matt was one of my favourite bass players. Hopefully him and fazzi will perhaps have a project.

Where You Want to Be is an awesome record and Matt totally kills it on there, but when Louder Now came out I started to lose interest. There are a couple of really good songs on there but to me the rest are just kinda meh. I couldn't dig New Again at all.

A lot of people are probably hoping for Tell All Your Friends Part Deux with this reunion, but I doubt that will be the case. I'm really looking forward to hearing some new stuff and hope they come around here when they tour again!

Nolan > Fred IMO. But I liked Nolan in Straylight Run better than I liked him in TBS. I don't know; they are all super talented. As long as great music continues to be made- I am okay with it.

well i dont care for them much in general, but i could tell that when fred and matt showed up, the song writing got better. i can tolerate fred's voice.

you're so last summer made me eternally hate them just a bit. cute without the E was the only saving grace of that album IMO.

but back on track. sorry. matt will do better things. everyone knows how good he is. he'll end up in some crazy bitchin' indie band or something.

Ha, those two songs you mentioned are my least favorite on the album, but everyone else's favorites. The rest is pure gold to me!

And I'll be keeping track of what Matt is up to for sure. I'm not a Jazz bass guy at all, but his tone on Where You Want to Be has me gassing for a 5 string Jazz whenever I listen to it.

This is crazy. Although, not surprising, it has been rumored for a while that TBS broke up/was getting dropped by WB.

Either way, TBS was good before Matt, and will be fine without him. Likewise, I'm sure he will go on to bigger and better things. He truly is a great rock bassist.

Well, new is they are officially back to the Tell All Your Friends-era line up. I'm pretty stoked about it, not gonna lie.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRSBiOc-8x4

The scrolling text at the bottom near the end of the video says:

"Sometimes it takes some time to remember where you were headed in the first place and the people you intended to go there with. There's no hard feelings, just the future."

Also, it sounds like a new song in the background.

Any word on the label that TBS will end up on? I need to ask my sources but it wouldnt surprise me if Matt was actually "owned" by WB. Didn't he join right before their first major recording?

Huh, this is pretty interesting.....

I think they're still on Warner Bros. If WB doesn't release it Victory will probably snap up the opportunity. Matt joined when they were still on Victory, so I don't think he's "property" of WB, but I guess I could be wrong.

Yeah, "owned" is probably the wrong term....."Paid by" is probably more the point I was going for.

I don't think any band once being on the victory label would ever return to them in a million years. Even an employee of Victory Records told my band never to sign to them.
