I don't think he's not actually playing live there though. There's moments in the video, most noticeably at 3:09, where he takes his left hand off the strings and yet the bass keeps on going.

Also at 1:59, he plays a note in three octaves, sliding into them and his fretting hand doesn't move.

But then again it's not uncommon for TV shows of that error to not allow band's to perform live. Even Top of Pops didn't use to allow it.

Pretty sure that's a TV mix with live vocals over the original track.

There's a tune on the anthology (drawing a blank on which one) where Paul's flubbing the bass line and John starts giving him grief for playing sloppy and he says that can't find his plectrum. Later on, Mal Evans used to carry around a pocket full of picks wherever they went.

Paul is known for using a picks, but I have seen him pluck before.

I've seen him pluck on a live version of Yesterday on youtube.
