Órale,
Hand's down, Jazz Bassist Ray Drummand. As a 17yr old "beginning" bass player who was starting to branch off into a little jazz, after his set with Saxophonist Johnny Griffin, I walked up to him to compliment him on his playing, he pretty much gave me that signature "Bulldog" don't bother me kid look, and kinda groaned.....impressive....

Guy I went to school with who essentially became such a jazz hippie snob that if you mentioned any genre that didn't involve jazz or fusion, he would ramble on and on about how talentless those musicians were.
Even wierder was when he joined a metal band, and refused to downtune his bass for their style, and ended up bringing no depth to their sound.
Oddly enough, we get along great now, even though he's a liberal, I'm a moderate, he's an atheist, I'm a Christian, he's a jazz snob, and I'm...what do you call someone who's too into prog for their own good? Cause I'm one of those. Proghead? Progolodyte?

whoever plays bass for Puddle of Mudd, they played at a big music festival here in birmingham alabama last summer ( they are probably washed up since the nineties) they got off stage, and i walked up and told him that he played great ( not a fan of any of that sort of music, but i was being nice and they sounded pretty solid) well, he just grunted, opened his beer and walked off.

what a douche.

Progtologist, nice!
Hypothetical band name: Dr. 15/16 and The Aggressive Progressive Progheaded Progtologists

Another mean bassist I met was in a 'nonconformist anti-Christian metal' band. His guitarists played out of Crate 10 inch combos whilst he played on a Behringer 8x10. And to make things funnier, the singer sang out of a guitar amp because the band didn't want to use the headlining band's PA because they were a Christian band! Being rude to another musician due to religious beliefs, which although are important, had nothing to do with the concert, is just plain unacceptable. I'm also thinking they were quite the racists as well, as none of them had any hair, (which not a determining factor, as Tony Levin is bald, and as far as I can tell, is not a Neo-Nazi), they completely ignored my band, and would sit in a corner of the venue and rudely point and jeer at us, and while I'm not certain, I strongly believe it was because my drummer is African American.
Whoo, my posts are long winded, and I have no idea if my grammar is correct.

that arsehole who tossed my bass across the room and when i confronted him said "so what if it breaks it gives you an excuse to buy something decent"
we all know what happened to his bass though

another bassist i met wasnt so much mean as just damn arrogant and ingnorant
we were playing a jam night there was 2 bass amps one belonging to this douche the other belonging to an old rocker
the old rocker said i was ok to use his amp (we'd pre arranged it) the other kid on the other hand wouldnt let anyone near his (fair enough is suppose)
anyhow we were on right after the douches band (they were junk 4 chord emo crap) after they'd finished i walked across to their bass player to do the whole "hey man i loved your set" thing he just grunted and walked off
i thought nothing of it so we set up and started our set then halfway through our 3rd song the little twerp jumps up onstage and starts trying to pack his amp up!!! as you can imagine on a small stage this was not a good thing and actually caused us to stop mid song, our singer turned round and said "hey man cant you pack that up after we've finished our set?"
to which the little snotface replied "no i'm packing it up now so shift!"

Steve Cook was a solid douche when I met him a couple of years ago. I figured he would be cool since we are both Warwick guys but he just snobed me. Thing is, I wasn't even doing the fan boy "oh gosh you're so great. can I have one of your strings to hang myself with cause then we would be connected FOREVER" thing. Just wanted to say hello.

The original bass player from Steppenwolf. We were doing a show with his new band (not Steppenwolf) and we were the opening band.On load in my amp at the time was dropped out the back of the gear trailer (accident) but would not power up for sound check.Nick the bass player from not Steppenwolf said no problem mate you can use my rig (vintage SVT into two 4x15 cabs)GREAT.We do a sound check and the amp was set up for me by his bass tech with both of them there after sound check he decides he doesnt want me to use it and storms off with a few nasty words back to their bus.His bass tech tells me that his rig hasnt sounded that good in a long time and Nick got mad. There happened to be a young kid in the crowd during sound check and said he could run home and get his dads bass amp,he came back with a GK800RB and the bass tech snuck me into one of the 4x15 cabs and the show went on.He was a D**K.

Ha, mean folks die young. It's the Creators way. I laugh at iceholes. ADn I used to be one, in uniform, so I can "dance for keeps" if need be, but... I WANNA LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!

Highly encourage confident inner laughter at mean folks. They's gonna die. That meaness tears you up inside. COnstant trickle of adrenaline. Not good.

PLUS, think of how stunted their "aura" is. THey're either addicts or just plain ignorant if they cant feel that.

It's natures way of cleaning man.

Gene Simmons, meet him at the Hard Rock in NYC during the Animalize tour, I saw him, he wasn't eating or anything, I just wanted to shake his hand, his first words "are you supposed to be here?", I said yes, he said no and then had me removed from the "VIP" area...I was 13.

I have no trouble picturing him doing something like that.

what a douche.
Not to make excuses for Doug Ardito (POM bassist), but he is a friend of mine, and he is PAINFULLY shy. Not trying to discredit what you're saying at all. I'm sure that is how he came across. But, I just wanted to let you know that it most likely had nothing to do with you.
