Ok so im a huge fan of playing megadeth basslines in particular:
-Peace sells but who's buying
-Angry Again
-A toute le monde
Wondering how you would grade them difficulty wise (0-10 10 bein hardest).
Also how good do you think the basslines are? And opinions on how good the bassist is?
Im a huge fan just wanted opinions. Just because im a fan doesnt mean i dont want to hear annything bad tho speak your mind
Rik

They're not that tough if you've got the basics down, but often have a few neat tricks thrown in. Overall, I think Megadeth has good basslines for metal, Mustaine certainly understood the importance of having a bassist who wasn't tied to the root all the time. |

Especially on Killing is MyBusiness when he doubles that sweet guitar riff. Just awesome. Though My Last Words is awesome too.
Tell you the truth, I just like David Ellefson lol. Good basslines, good presence, and metal through and through. |

Don't worry about how tricky the stuff you are playing is, concern yourself with how good it sounds.

With all that great guitar work on their tracks, a great frontman and a huge drum set, almost noone notice the bass lines. Although Megadeth influenced me in many ways, the bass never thrill me at all!

One of the few metal players that manages to stand out in an area of root huggers who got mixed out in a drum/guitar heavy genre. His lines are not that difficult but managed to be creative and integral to many of Megadeth's best tracks. While I wouldn't want his tone I think its perfect for metal. |

I dig the music, it's fun, it's not real challenging(for me, but i haven't played the full library either). Good times.

The first 5 Megadeth albums are byfar their best, though theres a couple songs off of Cryptic Writings that are decent.

The bassline isn't difficult (well, keeping those eighth-note triplets at the end of the song really locked with the double bass drum isn't a one-take job IMO), but lots of fun to play! |

Ellefson is not that flashy maybe but he's creative for sure. There are not many metal bands out there where the bass is roaming like his and not rooting. He sometimes roots but thats when the song calls for it.(A tout le monde for example)
BTW Rust in Peace is not that easy stuff to play.
