Thumbs up M. Lee

That's a KSD (Ken Smith Design) 5-string.

I have this 2 disc DVD set, ''Lee Ritenour, Overtime''. Melvin also plays his Ken Smith 7-string on this DVD. Anthony Jackson also plays on it too. This DVD is done in HD although they could have put captions whenever they did the interviews on the musicians. Other than that, great music by great players!

First song on disc 2, ''Captain Fingers'' is the best track'' WOW!

Carlo

I have the DVD as well! Dude can really play his @$$ off! On another note, the girl vocalist is Lalah Hathaway's sister, Kenya, and I declare my love for her! She's beautiful!

Great DVD! Tone for days! Also on the DVD Anthony Jackson, who is known for his high-end bass rigs is sitting next to a GKRB800.

Melvin mainly plays Ken Smith basses both the traditional and the KSD Korean ones. He has another Fender-like bass that he uses too. But word of warning nothing Melvin uses is stock all his basses have been customized. I ask him about his sound on that DVD and he onlys says he was running direct. I have since talked to others who know Melvin and they say he never answers questions about his gear.

Why is that? I don't get why some Artist are so hush hush about what gear they use. Strange yes????

I agree, but some guys just don't talk about gears others don't about their playing. They could tell you everything they know and won't effect the work they get, their reputaton or make someone else sound like them.
