In memory of Mark Adams (R.I.P.)

The great Mark Adams, who inspired many young bass players, passed away early this morning. This is confirned by childhood friend and Ohio native Steve Arrington. http://twitter.com/Steve_Arrington One of the greatest "feel and groove" bassists ever. He played bass and co-wrote the #1 R&B hit "Slide" at the mere age of 16. He will be missed

I'm sorry to hear about this. Slide was one of those anthem songs the bassists played back when I was in high school.

Damn. Any idea why?

Mark Adams is one of my favorite all time bassists. Very innovative. Sort of the funk version of Chris Squire.

This is very sad news.

Dude was flat out NASTY! And to think, he was a kid when "Slide" was released.

A great loss indeed. I wish Bass Player mag would have done more in depth coverage on him. Loved his playing style and his tone.

Damn, Mark was the player that started it all for me. Slave is still one of my all time fovorite bands.

R.I.P Mark Adams

Slave was the very first concert I ever attended. It was 1981 with "Bohannon" at The Palladium Ballroom NYC. I still have the ticket stub.

I just posted as well so I'll remove mine and add to this thread. So sad. Really. Also one of my main influences and bass heroes.
