I just got King Curtis Live at the Fillmore last week and it features two killer versions of the song. ONe is a bonus cut. Grooves really good. Jerry Jemmott is an awesome bassist . King curtis , bernard purdie , cornell dupree , billy preston ( plus the memphis horns , pancho morales and truman thomas on Live @ the fillmore) are all great musicians.

If you don't already have it, get the Aretha Fillmore West album, same night, same band, same awesome groove!

I am ashamed to admit that I had never seen a clip of King Curtis before. What really struck me is that I could clearly see and hear why Jaco cited Jerry Jemmott as a major influence. Those sixteenth notes, even that lack of a pickguard on his bass, are Jaco signatures. BTW, Jemmott had a beautiful rosewood fingerboard Jazz!

This is one of my all time favorite youtube clips. I can't get enough of Jerry Jemmott! That style of bass could use a revival.

Subscribed, because they block YouTube here at work and I want to watch this when I get home.

I love that track, I have both the studio version and the live version on my iPod. I heard the studio version first, and it absolultely blew me away, it's still probably my favorite version of it.

The Aretha live concert from the same night is also great, especially her cover of "Love The One You're With". Amazing stuff.
