Met Victor Wooten a few weeks ago.

He came with his band and after the concert I met him and showed him the fretless I made. I had gotten in contact with Anthony Wellington about him giving a professional opinion of it, and he told me to bring it. Anthony was a nice guy. So was Victor. I took a photo of him on my cell phone, and it's now my cell phone's wallpaper. It was an evening of some increadible music and artistry. Can't wait until he comes through my city again.

Like you, I met Vic after one of his shows in Kansas City, though I didn't have a self-made fretless to show him, haha.

He's a really good guy.

Yeah, did he pick up your fretless and play Teen Town on it? Cool to hear you've met Victor, he always seems very open and happy to meet fans. I feel like I know the guy and I've never even seen him live!

I met Vic before his show a couple of weeks ago - He was great! A down to earth, friendly guy. I took my bass teacher for his 70th birthday and Vic let us take a picture with him. Really a cool experience.

My friend who doesn't even play bass (or any instrument) met him in an airport when all the flights were cancelled because of a storm. He only knew who he was because of the bass day video i always watch. Now keep in mind my friend is a young black guy, and he said Victor even told him its cool to see young black men who play bass. My friend told him he doesn't but I do and he had seen him on the bass day video. He got his ticket signed by him though and a picture on his cell phone, I was so jealous. Some guys have all the luck!!

I think you'll have quite the experience.....seeing Vic (and the 'tones) live is just incredible. And he always makes himself available after the show....tell him ALOHA from me! (I'll be seeing him in Feb for BATB)

Aloha, Garey

Wow, . . .what can you say about a guy who doesn't even follow his own thread close enough.

Anyway, both Victor and Anthony Wellington thought it was very well made and had very good tonal qualities. My brother said that I should have Victor sign my bass, but Victor said I should sign my own name to it . . . . . start my own business making basses. Of course, I doubt that would happen. Way too many much better luthiers out there than me. But it was a very nice compliment anyway.

But he was a very nice guy.

Sweet.

There are plenty of great luthiers out there, but if any of them had your attitude, they wouldn't be making sweet basses.

If you are determined enough, you can do ANYTHING.
Who knows, maybe one day Victor will ask you for a signature model.

Well, . . . . . . maybe one day. At this point, I don't have access to tools or the place to make anything. If I do, in the future, perhaps I'll try my hand at it.

That's what I like to hear! Now for my encouragement, I expect a free bass.
