Maybe not a FENDER Jazz bass, but Steve DiGiorgio of Sadus uses a fretless bass.

Jason Newsted used a Jazz with Metallica often.

Most of Trujilio's basses have EMG Jazz pickups, though they ain't Jazz's.

The bassist from Alter Bridge uses a Sadowsky Jazz.

The bassist from Fear Factory/Strapping Young Lad uses custom shop Fender Jazz's, and Roscoe Becks, but the J's have EMG humbuckers.

I do

Ryan Wombacher of Bleeding Through uses a jazz 5er when not playing his soundgear.

also the bunches of post-hardcore-punk-pop bands out there.

Examples: A Day To Remember, Ecape the Fate, Arsonist get all the Girls, Parkway Drive ect.

Jazzs are a beast of many tones.

Priest are really one of the true pioneers of metal, so yes, Ian Hill.

Arguably, JP Jones if you consider Led Zep to be metal enough.

These threads are so funny. It is not for Jazz only. I just bought a Warwick RockBass; can I use it for my P&W Team?

I know, but I'm considering getting a Jazz bass, and so I'm interested in hearing it in a metal context.

Judging by the names mentioned so far, it seems alot of metalcore bands uses it. Not my kind of thing, but I didn't know Opeth used one. One more reason for me to check them out.
