i dont know who was playing, I only heard Mariah Carey, but liked the fact that was a live transmission and I could heard the bass cutting through very well.

The bass player is Alex Al, and that was the band he was going on the tour with.

Buogon beat me to it.
Alex Al was the bassist, but I wanted to also point out that Orianthi was on guitar.

I really feel sorry for the band… loosing all that work. Does anyone know how these things work? Were they under contract? Will they get paid despite the cancellation? Will AEG’s insurance cover their loss?

Good question. I'm sure they all cleared their calender to take this gig. Maybe there is some kind of severence pay.

Wow - how did you know that? Inside info I guess. I did many searches for the current band and found nothing. I was very curious who had gotten the gig. I don't know much about Alex, but I see him at NAMM show every year - and people say he's a session guy, blah blah. The only one we saw on tv was the blond chick on guitar. I'm sure they were set to make some very good bread. If AEG is smart, they'll put together another tour using Jermaine and Usher, etc...

As a side note: his original guitarist for the tour, David Williams, passed away recently. He played that cool rhythm part at the end of Billie Jean.

Being that Ricky Lawson was on retainer with MJ, I'm pretty sure it was him on drums.

Jonathan Moffett on drums.... semi inside info. Also, some of these cats sold their houses so they could move to London to do this gig. That would really suck at this point...
