I love that Country, Jazz, Blues, fusion they do! There is nothing like a chicken picked Telecaster, and Michael Rhodes is perfect at great, understated playing. I have said it many times, but the level of musicianship in Nashville is mindblowing! It was a pleasure just to hang around music stores and listen to people play when I lived fairly close to Nashville.

Oh yeah. These guys are the real deal. They are all first call session players in Nashville and really nice guys to boot. Brent Mason (the guitar player) is a buddy of mine and a MONSTER player.

If anyone's interested, here's my band doing Hot Wired (the tune in the OP's 2nd link) live with Brent. (I'm playing piano on this one)

Killer clips! I kind of miss Michaels classic Sadowsky PJ tone, but the bass still sounds good, and with playing like that, who cares!

He's played on SO many sessions, but my favorite is the 4 disc Vince Gill release, where Michael goes to school on pop, classic country, and 'modern country', disc by disc.

Amazing feel and note choice. One of my all time favorite players, and what a bad a** stage presence to boot!

You playing in that sort of context reminds me a lot of Rhodes.... tasty but still a bit aggressive, with that 'windings on the B string' type tone.

Wow!!! Thanks Ken!!!!
And to be honest, I kinda lean to that Rhodes/Will Lee push in that context.

Rhodes always has that push to his playing no matter the gig. And not in a pushing the beat kinda way.
Like you mentioned Ken, a bit aggressive but never obvious.
