As far as us(intoxitones),we play a little of everything.I know that sounds cliche',but.. When we started this band,we decided we weren't going to be another cookie-cutter cover band.We don't play Brown Eyed Girl,Mustang Sally,The Joker,or anything by Bob Seger. There's simply too much good music out there that hasn't been played to death(live or radio) to have to play the same stuff as everyone else. We play Beatles,Clutch,Pixies,Ween,NIN,Michael Jackson,Santana,Jack Johnson,Old Crow Med.Show,Primus,CCR,Gnarls Barkly,Men-at-Work,Smashing Pumpkins...a little of everything
That's pretty awesome! I'll check into my PM setting.

its pretty well scattered throughout the metro detroit area. but lots of bars in ferndale and ann arbor advertise for different bands. but i'd say younger people playing nu metal i think its called(ex: as i lay dying)....is pretty popular. there are some blues and big band groups in detroit. otherwise, just pick a bar on a friday or saturday night. the band will either be a cover band, play their own stuff, or a combination of both.

Awesome! Now that would be fun! But I imagine it would be a nightmare to get everyone perfectly in tune with one another...

Bam! Gig SPAM!!!

My band Tin Scribble will be playing at The Rack & Roll Nightclub in Riverview. A great venue, with a terrific sound system. Our sound is mix of progressive, art rock, with a dynamic, and dark mood. We'll be playing with the great Sean Baker Orchestra, and The Dead Skyscrapers.

July 23, 9pm $3 cover. The Rack & Roll, Riverview MI.

Come out for beer, billards, and mind altering rock and roll.

Hey all you Detroiters...

Just FYI... The Herbie Hancock 'Imagine' tour (with the wonderful Tal Wilkenfeld on bass) will roll into town Wed., August 18th at the Chene Auditorium (outside, downtown). It should be awesome.

I was really glad to move up here where expression/creativity are widely accepted, even appreciated.
A BIG +1 on that!

Was anyone else at Jazz on the River last night at Elizabeth Park in Trenton?

It's an all-day free event at the park with a couple jazz groups putting on performances. It was pretty cool, and it gave me some new insight into bass playing, too. I think it's an annual event, so there's always another chance next year to see it for anyone who's interested. It's really a good time.

Is this thread ever going anywhere, Numbers given? Or is it going to dry up?
