found the interview with guitar center:

"GC: Tell us about your basses. What do you use and why do you use it?

Mike: Right now, I'm using anything from 1963 to 1974 Fender P-Basses, mostly ash bodies. Sometimes I'll swap out the pickups, if they're dying, to a Seymour Duncan antiquity, which is a pretty hot pickup. I used to use a Gibson G3 bass years ago. I played at least 700 shows out of that thing before Tre accidentally broke the neck on it twice on stage by pushing over my amps."

He sure looks like he is having a blast on stage! I like his signature model P. I think it is one of the best sounding and looking sig models Fender ever made.

His basslines on stuff like Welcome to Paradise (Which is inevitably going to be mentioned), When I Come Around, Longview, stuff like that is what made me love him.

But, I want to know what other people thing.

P.S.: I want his Grabber. Even if it is screwed up.
Dude I know gave him that bass back in....90? Maybe 91? I don't remember. They were playin a show with them at the Varsity theatre I believe and he either lost or got his bass ripped off so Scott gave him the Grabber. Yeah, it's a hand me down story so I can't get details. Just know he gave it to him. Why I have no idea. But dudes bass lines are pretty much the same that I've heard since then. He fits his genre well.

Newer GD has too much going on with layered background singing and lots of strings, older GD put the bass out more in front in their recordings also

Why? He is a good pick player. It fits the music. I prefer fingers myself but I don't think it would sound right if he didn't play with a pick.

I think dookie was like college football. He was trying his best to make it out there. Now that he did, maybe is just like a job.
