I saw them on 6/11 and 12 (or 12/13) at Merriwether in Maryland. I was on the lawn for the 1st show. RAGING 1st set. Blasting and blazing just OUTRAGEOUS.
Got 3rd row behind the Orch pit the 2nd show so I was about 30 feet from Mike. The show was not as good , though still very good , but I was in the BLAST ZONE. WOO HOO Mike was dropping bombs and just raging. Boogie on Reggae Woman he turned on a filter/flanger/? and it was outrageous. Makisupa Policeman...
YES! He also used a P bass of some sort for the the encores both nights. I like the Mod but I am highly biased

I got to see him in Portland in November in a small club. His band rocks.

Boogie On - He either uses his Akai Deep Impact, or the Meatball with a drive. Because of the cleanliness of the tracking through the song, I'm guessing the latter (although I'm not personal with the tracking capabilities of the Deep Impact)

Just great shows. His choice of notes is so 'Mike' and at times seems to be wrong but he just moves that band. They were all outrageously good and high energy and seemed to be having a great time w/the crowd.
I've seen him twice in small clubs, once w/Rhythm Devils (horrible sound) and once with his band. I had to leave the 2nd show due to the crushing volume. I've got problems with my left ear and the kick was mixed so loud i just couldn't stand it. :-/ pretty dissapointed w/the both of those shows but not the last 2!!!

There is a free mike Gordon band show over livephish.com, i highly recommend checking it out,

Cactus is my all-time fav, no doubt about it. His style is so hard to duplicate...always moving with that upstroke pick sound.

I hadn't heard of him playing a p on the recent encores, would love to see a pic of that.

Since last summer, Gordon has been using a Source Audio Multiwave Bass Distortion Pro for Boogie On, and added their Bass Envelope Filter Pro this summer. I knew he had a new toy of some sort when they did Boogie On as the encore in Raleigh on 7/1/10, and a few weeks ago found out that's what it was. From that 10 minute version, you could tell he was really enjoying his new toy .

And he is indeed rocking 4 18s! He's never sounded so loud and clear, especially for outdoor shows. Cactus!

4 18s (Meyer PRO sound) AND 2 Eden 4x10s and something else sits on top of the Meyers. no idea what it is.

WHAT is the encore/P-bass???

During Makisupa (at merriweather) Trey sang something about Mike having a new bass.

Jambands.com says it's a red vintage precision.

Cactus tore it the f*** up at Watkins. My all time favorite bassist, he's inspired me to pick up a five string, slap, play pick style, and truly be HEARD in a band setting. Gordo's the man.
