I like My Chemical Romances 2nd album a lot. I haven't been able to get into their newer or older stuff yet, but it might come. As far as Mikey goes, I haven't payed much attention to him, but he must have SOMEthing on the ball to make those great songs work.

I'm not gonna totally diss him, but quite frankly I think he sucks. Some bassists can pull off playing with a pick, but this guy isn't one of them. The reason I don't liek him might be because I hate My Chemical Romance...with a passion. But, that's just my opinion.

I like My Chemical Romance. I certainly don't think they're the Second Coming, but I do like them (especially Welcome to the Black Parade... reminds me a lot of Queen). Anyway, I honestly haven't paid enough attention to or heard enough of Mikey Way to really comment on how great a bassist he is or isn't. I do, however, really like his tone on WttBP. In response to the previous post about him not being able to pull off playing with a pick, on that song at least, I disagree. He's got a snappy, sizzling tone (you can really hear the "bite" of the steel strings) and, in my opinion, manages to lay down a tight bottom end. So is he absolutely incredible? Don't know, really. Just to be honest, though... probably not. But I love hearing him on WttBP, that's for sure.

Ah... well... Mikey Way is the bassist for MCR? In my mind he's just as "good" as Pete Wentz

The thing is...I'm sure that no major label band would release a record that has mistakes on it as far as performance goes, so the only thing you can really talk about as far as the album goes is his tone. That being said, just because you don't like his tone doesn't mean he "sucks" as a player. i can't understand what you mean by being able to handle playing with a pick, you either use one or you don't, and he does, so I don't get it. The way I look at it, I think MCR's songs would probably sound pretty bad without Mikey's bass parts in it.

of course if there was no bass in it, but the real question is if another bassist were to play on would it make too much of a difference.

i can't say i've really noticed anything too special about the guy. i did see him use a nice jaguar bass though.

At least Mikey writes his own basslines.

For the record, Way's mediocre in my book.

The White Stripes have released several albums with mistakes all over them. Primus has released several, too. Mistakes on albums are a lot more common than you think they are. Sometimes they don't sound like mistakes. Sometimes they do, but they still sound cool. And sometimes they stick out like sore thumbs.

What I meant to say, is that they wouldn't have a release with something on it that they didn't want there. Sorry for the fuzzyness.

Oh!!! My Chemical Romance? - Okay!

I saw this thread and thought "the bloke who played bass for Culture Club?? What's this all about?" That was Mikey Craig! hahahahaha

I am obviously getting too old! hahaha

Saying that, My Chemical Romance played live last night on UK TV (Tonight With Jonathan Ross) and sounded great!

the new single, i think..."i don't love you"

i like the whole 50's rocker look and the B&W filming they had going one. did not enjoy, though, the gratuitous gear explosions

I liked 3 cheers...haven't quite warmed up to the black parade yet...and have yet to delve into IBYMB....
