For those of you lucky enough to get the cable channel Ovation, Charles Mingus will be honored with a concert performance of his composition "Epitaph" June 29 at 7PM.

The concert honors the tenth anniversary of the bassist-composer's death. The "New York Times" calls this "the most memorable jazz event of the decade." A thirty peice orchestra will accompany Wynton Marsalis, Snooky Young, George Adams, Bobby Watson, Sir Roland Hanfia and others.

Too bad this concert will be hidden on Ovation and not shown on PBS like the Burns series was, because I'm afraid far fewer people will be privileged to see it.
