I won't apply for an actual number, but I did grow up in Thief River Falls - that's way up north for you "metro" guys. I now live and work in Grand Forks, ND, just across the river.

OK, I'm in.

Number... 16?

Ham Lake, MN for the last 26 years. Shoreview and Blaine the year before that, and Cedar Rapids, IA for my earlier years.

I'd attend a beer, bass, and beer event if humanly possible.

I'm somewhat surprized by the number of northern bass players here. It seems like lately a lot of the working bands are packing it in.

My band actually does the bulk of it's work up on the Iron Range, but we get to several casinos as well.

Keep rockin' Minnesota bass players!

Nice. Like the thread.
Put me down for #20 (I think). I'm west of Calhoun by a few blocks.
Playing with a band called 'Hip Replacement'. So, the real question, how many of you mpls bassists are stuck at City Sound? haha
If so, and want to come try out some Dr. Bass Cabs, let me know.

I spent about two years rehearsing at City Sound. I walked in one night and the alarms are just blaring. We rehearsed for a couple of hours and when we left, the alarms were _STILL_ blaring. Nice alarm system. Pity there's no one who responds to it. I guess the plan is to deafen the perps.

P.S. Col200. I'm just across the river from City Sound and I'd happy bring a Shuttle and my P-Bass to try out some Dr. Bass cabs. The 2460 is on my short list for my "this is the last cab I'll need ever, and I really, really mean it this time" cab.

Is City sound Uni and 27th? If it's the same place I'm thinkin that place was one of THEE worst places I've ever practiced at. For one, the walls are paper thin. Two the people that run the place are total dicks. Three we were across the paper thin wall from Si6ks.....SHUT THE $%^& UP! Good God were they bad. Best practice spot experience I've had was over at Taylor sound. But apparently now if yer black and you have a spot there you use it to sell drugs. Least that's what the owner thinks. One of the rooms I was practicing in we ended up movin out of to a smaller room and Atmosphere moved into. But you know since it's hip hop they must be sellin drugs so you must go too. Morons. I don't know lots of stuff went down since I've been gone. Don't leave town otherwise your bands will fall apart. Even if you intend on going back. They can't handle it with out a dope ass bass player

I got to Planet bass. I like it and I will definitely stop back, but if your taste tends toward Fender-styled instruments it "feels like" you don't even register on his radar. That may be a mistaken impression. When I have the cash to actually buy, I'll run back up there with my bass and amp and I'm inclined to buy there because they're small and independent. I'm not ruling out going someplace else, though: Dr. Bass is very cool and direct and Planet Bass doesn't stock Genz Benz and the NeoX 212T is my other front runner at this point.

Take the Bass Lake Road exit from 494 (get it "Bass" Lake Road?) and go east to Sycamore. Go left (north) on Sycamore and watch to your left for 63rd Ave. They're in the strip just to your right when you've gotten on to 63rd.

Again, nice guy and worthy of your bass dollars.

I am playing with a blues guitarist this Saturday in Minneapolis. The bar is called "McMahons" on E. Lake Street. (Used to be The Poodle Club).

The band is The Ross William Perry Band. Ross is a great guitar player. Let me know if you (or anyone here) an make it.

He didn't have much unpacked. Two Zons, an MTD and a Modulus formerly known as a Flea bass (blue sparkle). Aguilar, Schroeder and Epifani cabs, a couple of heads, a fair number and variety of Bart pickups, some generic tuners and BadAss bridges. He's got a lot of unpacking to do, I'm sure he's got a ton more gear, but he's buried.

The choices of locale would be someone's rehearsal space or talk to Tony and see if Planet Bass (once he's unpacked) would like to host.
