Do all of you play strictly Reggae ? I only play Reggae. But I listen to a lot of different music. Also, it's because I'm finally with bandmates that really want to work hard at playing it with an authentic sound from the 60's-90's and present it live.
I just wanted to know because it seems like a lot, lot, lot of people on TB play rock.
Thanks for the names above.

For ska, yes, but for reggae less so unless you are talking "reggae" in a more general sense to include ska and rocksteady. I'm going to add "Jackie Mittoo's left hand"

I play in a soul/funk band and also with a garage/indie band. And I pretty much only listen to reggae...

I don't see how you can have a discussion about reggae without acknowledging ska masters like the Skatellites and Desmond Dekker.

Now I need to look up all these names. That's good. Steel Pulse has a bass player now, I think it's Amlak T. I don't know how to spell his name but the boys' got groove.

I've had plenty of them. The OP didn't ask for a historical account of the evolution of bass in Jamaican music (or for a list of influential bassists in Jamaican music in general). Having said that, it's good of you to bring attention to one of the primary figures in the development of ska bass.

I see your point, but without Ska there would be no reggae. Anyway, I'm not sure on this one, but didn't he also play with Tommy McCook later in the Supersonics, which was much more reggae than ska or rocksteady?
