A couple come to mind to me, Sir Paul McCartney (having had to play his material I have a lot of respect, Cliff Williams of AC/DC - he knows his job and gets it done, Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath, and Kathy Valentine formerly of the Go-Go's. Not a lot of flash with these players, but they all have got the job done.

I think we forget our job from time to time - we need be the drummers parnter in crime and keep the grove happening for the rest of the band. Just my two cents after playing in the pocket since 1981.

I am the most underrated bassist of all time. I'm a good player, I know the fretboard, I have tons of licks in my head, our drummer and I lock in like you wouldn't believe, I groove all day and all night, and my bandmates like me. I'm just not famous, that's all.

Did not read the whole thread. Apologize for any repeats. Always thought Eric Avery of Janes Addiction, Deconstruction and Polar Bear was way underrated as well as Greg Norton of Husker Du. Norwood Fisher of Fishbone too. There are alot. lol.
