Mr Big Are Back!

Sign in to disble this ad
I don't know if this has been posted, but I just got an excited email from a guitarist friend.

Mr Big are going to be touring Japan with the original lineup (ie PG).

They all said this was a "no way" thing.

Lets hope they make the rest of the world too...

Billy and Paul are a killer team. Shame about the vocals!

Never heard of em, but from what I read they sound killer.

Paul Gilbert and Sheehan?! Together. Wow.

Saw them in late 80's w/ Tall Stories opening for them at a small club in Tampa called the Rockit Club. Was standing like 3 feet away from Billy...was amazing!

Also, I think Eric Martin is an incredible vocalist...weak link, IMO, was the drummer, Pat Torpey. Not that he wasn't good, just not up there with the rest of the guys.

Many, Many Japanese fans are rejoicing. I never understood why they were able to maintain such a devout following in Japan yet nowhere else. Strange little Mr. Big microcosm I guess. RAW LIKE SUSHI BABY!

Because the Japanese love their 80's rock and their guitar heroes! Thats why Yngwie Malmsteen was packing out venues over there when everyone else was saying he had gone stale!

In any other band Pat (drummer) and Eric (vocals) would be stand out awesome - they are both VERY good. There was(is!!!!) no weak link in the band, but how drums and vocals never stood a chance with Billy and PG - they were always going to get less recognition.

RAW LIKE SUSHI 2 beats Raw Like Sushi (or the official live album which is pretty lifeless)

I always thought Pat should have been called Pat Ropey for his drumming! I would have rather seen Billy and Paul play together in a fusion setting or playing Paul's brand of high speed shred/rock. I mean, gah, the singing and vocal melodies in Mr. Big are some of the worst I have heard from 80's rock.

I saw them open for Rush on the Roll The Bones tour in the early 90's. Outside of Billy's long solo (and terrible-guitar like distorted tone) I dont remember anything from them being onstage. I am a fan of Billy, I think he is an awesome player and seems to be a really cool guy, but his tone is not great IMHO.

Anyone hear the jam he did with Alex and Neil from Rush where he played Geddy's Wal? It was posted on Billy's site. THAT sounded fantastic and he should look into getting one. There is the tone he should have!

Saw 'em in Toledo in "the day". I'd go see 'em again. Sure it's wankery, but it's fun to watch.

I saw that tour also. Tough sell for a bunch of Rush fanatics (myself included). I would like to see them at a smaller venue.

The band I played in way back in the early 90s opened for Mr Big in Albuquerque. None of the dudes very social, but I get that. They did their thing well live. Interestingly, I thought Pat Torpey's drum solo was excellent, but both Gilbert and Sheehan's solos left me cold.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*sobbing*
For the love of god...WHY?

Alright, I dig Billy Sheehan, but Mr. Big is responsible for one of the worst songs in history.

"I'm the one who wants to be with you.....deep inside my heart"..........OH GOD NO!!!!!

Mr. Big.... Appearing at a charity Casino near you!

I would go see them for fun, but I would doubt they could fill anything more than an 800-1000 seat casino or large bar. Doubt people would rush out to buy tickets to see these guys.

Just my $0.02.

The tone there is incredible!

However, I've seen him live with Steve Vai twice now (from the good seats at the front) and his tone really works there. Obviously, his playing blew my mind too!
