Mr. Hoppus

I really do like Mark hoppus, his playing, his music, his basses, and his bands no matter what anybody else says. So I figured I'd tell him that so I tryed to find an address so I could send him mail and I couldn't find one. No e-mail either, so I posted on his facebook. I really doubt he'll see it but it was worth a try. Mostly just to show that people like myself love him. I'm off to make a myspace to send him another and he might have a better chance of seeing this one.

Thx guys

This is what I put

Hey Mr. Hoppus! I'm a huge fan of your your bands! You were one of the few people who got me to bite the bullet and buy my first bass! That was three years ago and I am now 14. I love all your songs and all your gear and your tone is sweet! I mow lawns to earn money for all my gear. I have two squier basses and on each... I took out the tone knob because of your basses. When I have some money in the future I really hope to buy your fender signature. I was just saying hello and shouting out from Texas. I really hope you get this because I not only look up to you as a bassist but a business man and a song writer.

I'll see you when I'm famous!

Im with you man! I love his playing especially on Man Overboard and Anthem Pt. 1. His tone has always appealed to me too. Its about time this man gets some recognition! Yeah hes not that technical of a player but what he does is simple and it fits the song which is all you need. Something that fits the song.

Mark Hoppus rules!!

Everybody says his basses suck and are ugly but I like em!

He gets the job done bass wise in his bands, and has a cool tone and some pretty cool basslines here and there.

Whether you like him or not, he and Mike Dirnt (not the only ones) made it cool to be a bass player for alot of young players. This is just another example of that.

well, everyone has a bassist that uniquely speaks to them on a certain level...and sometimes they aren't always a stellar player, but you like their playing style.

I'm the same way with Chris Joannou from Silverchair...he played with a pick too, but his tone and taste in gear is AWESOME! (he has a B15-R rig now)

Yeah. I'd say mike dirnt, flea, and entwistle got me playing. I didn't know who they were, but I could hear them... and I liked it and thats what matters. I always thought I'd switch to guitar later until I saw who/what they were. Bass was a new, cool, underrated, field I could develop further. Rather than be a drop in the bucket with guitar. They really meant a lot!

Hoppus is at least a much better singer than skater boi guitar dude from Blink. Seems like a nice guy too.

Not to be a spoilsport, but I really doubt your message is going to get through to him. Secondly, I'm sure there's hundreds of near identical messages that have already been sent to him, so your thoughts have already been thoroughly homogenized... hehe

Hate his playing and songwriting, but that is a fine bass he came up with. As far as Fenders go, it's in my top three.

Up there with the Urge II and the Roscoe Beck.

I love his basses. I'd say for sigs The dirnt, hoppus, and then tony franklin but tony's was already kinda a bass.

I know it won't get through, it was worth a shot... LCW got me to do it. He was like "hey try, he could give you a bass" because we were talking about how much we respect him

For those who don't watch cribs he had like 20 basses in his house and he was like "I don't use these anymore"

That's a nice note you wrote him. It's cool to have someone to inspire you. Maybe one day some 14 year old will write you a similar note.

yeah.i think they specialize in a different rock sub-genre now though..i read a fairly recent interview with the lead singer,
in which he said that he hates frogstomp, and basically sees it as a point when they were just angsty teens trying to be grunge...funny to say the least

I used to have "Freak show" and liked it quite a bit.

How can one think his signature model is ugly? Then you'd hate the look of all j-basses!!

To Qvist: Their talking about the new ones with the reversed pup

To Jumbo: Yeah, thousands of em... if I had as many basses as hoppus does I'd be like "Bass for you, and you, and you and you..."

As far as the bass goes it is almost a perfect Fender...the warm sound of a hot rodded P and the look of a smooth J. I just wish it had a J neck...Oh well. I guess Mark likes his hands around thick things... : )
