Where do you live that a sub costs $1300??? That's more than a Bongo here in the US.
As much as I hate to say it, if you're looking for a Jazz neck, then get a bass with a jazz neck. The Sterling neck isn't actually that far off from a jazz though. Not eneough for there to be a significant and noticable difference if you play a lot. My experience has shown me that neck preferences are a matter of just getting used to something. For me anyhow. I went from a 4 string Sterling to a 5 string Bongo. The neck thing threw me for a while, but now if I go back to the Sterling, THAT feels off and uncomfortable to me.
I've had bad experiences with Fender and really dislike their basses and their company. I think they're nothing more than a money making machine that's living off of marketing and basses they made 30 years ago. I don't think they can hold a candle to MM basses, construction wise, sound wise, feel wise... or in any other area that I can think of. The people at MM care about their players and their instruments. If you go to
www.ernieball.com/forums you can get a feel of what goes on their. Big Poppa is Sterling Ball. Take a look at the relationship he has with his customers. If ever there's ANY problem I guarantee he'll take care of you. Try to get the head of Fender to even acknowledge your existence.
If I were going to throw extra bucks into a newer, better bass - I'd upgrade on the MM. No way would I trade a MM for a Fender. I did the opposite in fact.
