Nathan Watts at Marcus Miller Toronto show

I had the great fortune to check out Marcus Miller's awesome show on the weekend at the Toronto Jazz fest. After the first couple of tunes I'm sitting there thinking it just just doesn't any better when Marcus begins introducing "Boogie On Reggae Woman" by dedicating it to Nathan Watts who is in the audience! Sure enough, three rows directly in front of me Nate stands up and takes a bow. I was speechless (well maybe I did shriek like a girl).

Watching Nathan Watts bob his head to the Funk while Marcus tore it up was definitely one of the coolest things I've ever experienced.

After the show, Nathan was really approchable so I managed to get a minute to shake his hand and tell him what a huge influence his playing has had on mine. I was hoping that he had a gig in town but he said he was just here for a recording session.

I'm still kicking myself today for forgetting to bring my camera to the show..
