If I could play like him, I'd be willing to be called quite a few things.

Nice interview. Really? Care to elaborate? So if his name were different, then that changes your perception of him as a man and a musician???????

I'm not being sarcastic but I would love for him to elaborate.

I'll just put a word in for Jauqo III-X.
I PM'd him here on TB about some pedals and
we corresponded a bit back and forth, then
he gave me his telephone #. I called him
and we talked for quite a while.
Very cool cat and I don't know too many pros
that would do that for just a "hobby player."
Call him what you will or judge him by his name,
all I know is, he's a very cool, down to earth guy
and a valued member of this forum.

The name (and name only) makes me think unoriginal, and wanna be jaco. I have seen some videos and that is not how you play, just talking about the name here. How would a guitarist be received if he changed his name to Hendricks III-X??? no troll, no hate, just my initial thoughts when I see the name

It hits me, after reading the interview, that Jauqo-IIIX was passing along Ornette's gift (time and attention) to him!

Very cool. Oftentimes, the best way to repay a gift is to pass it along, IMO.

It's funny how someone would hate a player because of a name. And especially after not having even heard the musician play.

If a guitarist changed his name to Hendrix IIIX and all you hear is a Hendrix clone, then yes I could see why some may get bent all out of shape. But at the end of the day I could care less about some one trying to be a clone. I have no interest at all in being a clone.

Like I said in the interview, I sound nothing at all like Jaco Pastorius. And for the record I have no issues at all with JP. I think he was a gifted and talented artist. And his contribution to music I greatly appreciate.

Do you hear any JP in any of these tracks?

4 string fretless.

Mad About You (Ra Jazz-Semba Remix) | NEFERFARI

With Valencia Bey. Tracks 1,4,5,6,7,10 and 11

4 string fretless.

Valencia Bey | Coffee and Conversation | CD Baby

Common(featuring Malik Yusef)

6 string fretless.

Malik Yusef Ft Common - My City - YouTube

Jauqo IIIX

4 string fretless sub contra bass.

I read another name somewhere...a "normal one"( which I can't remember now) but after all I really don't mind what names people go by.
Plus, if a name gets people to talk about one...that's not all bad either I think.

Had a really nice discussion about one of Jauqo's Adler basses one time. Fantastic guy and glad that he is doing his own thing and finding success with it. Experimentation allows for new voices to emerge. Keep up the great work Jauqo.

Chill bro. not knocking your playing in the least. As stated my post, you do not sound like Jaco. I agree. I think your pick/slap combo technique is innovative. just talking about your name. Call em like I see em. You also asked about it if I recall.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jauqo a few years ago.

Completely, totally, open and humble dude.

I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with him when he was at our Bass Blast.

He passed on so much knowledge in the few hours I was with him. Real knowledge. It's still with me to this day.

I love to be with people who are real and comfortable with themselves.

Not to mention he's a bass monster who left the building in shambles...

No I got where you were coming from. I've learned a long time ago that humans will be humans no matter how much of the facts they may hold.

And no I'm not being sarcastic.
