Just because I'm a photo major at college, the background and the floor space don't blend very well... but the guy on the right has the thinnest ankles ever!

Why does the bass player have to be in the back?

The guy taking the photos is my (half)sister's father. He a fashion fotographer and music video director. He was kind enough to do us a favour.

In the case it is justified. I'm paralyzed in my feet, so I can't stand up front. I'd fall over and ruin the foto session. I always lean on my amp on stage and pretend I'm John Entwistle.
People are so used to bassists standing in the back with the drummer no one ever realizes it is the only way for me to be on stage, unless I'm hanging from a rope or something

I have been doing bio shots for years and years.
blk and white and cropped to a head/facial shot.
Sorry if this dosent show my expierence but If took all of 4 seconds.
I put in the last one I did to back up the talking smack (and it was tken outdoors in winter so the lighting sucked. took hours of burning/dodging highlights and shades to get it not washed out.
PLus I removed a flagpole and half of grand truck station in downtown motown.

Colors become distracting when a potential employer/agent yada... yada... it scrutinizing the photo and its contents.
[I dont remeber why it originated]
but it takes the picture to the essentials, the content.
I'd probably burn the background color to grey, to make your faces contrast more from it and to make your faces the most salient feature.
I removed all other features, I.e. legs etc to make the focus on your faces. Its a good canvas and the following editing would be cake!

- It's an odd shaped crop, wouldn't print well as an 8x10
- Most people want to see "head shot" style pictures as a portrait style setup, upright... vertical you know.
- The crop is strange with that guy's elbow missing
Max: I wasn't suggesting the floor be removed, I was merely suggesting that the photographer should have blended the edges of the floor into the white background, as to not create that awkward jump.
As you can see, it was done to some extent, but it wasn't brought forward enough. I like being able to see the floor space, but it should be lighter. But I'm just nitpicking.
