Hello all I've been AWOL on this site for a while.
I have been in the shed a lot these days trying to up my playing.
I'm having a baby in December It will be a boy
Please all keep your fingers crossed for a healthy and happy one
I'm on tour in Japan now after a European tour which was great,
We are touring the Time Control CD and getting ready for a new one which we will record in January, I feel the band has now reached another level of musicality, I wish sometimes you could pick and choose what goes on You Tube but there you go.
I really hate some of my playing on there but it's a great reality check.
My goal really is to be as good as I can be and work hard.
My new CD is finished and mixed, I'm working on a few deals to get it out there, I will be putting tracks on my myspace page for you to check out
Now is a track called Chasing Shadows featuring, Oli Rockberger on Piano, Chris Dave on Drums, Elliot Mason on Bass Trumpet and Gregoire Maret on Harmonica, Thanks all for reading talk soon, Tony |

It took a little while longer for me to "get" this album than the others. But I really like it now. I've always been a fan of the trio more than anything. All of the albums are great. Hiromi, Tony and Martin are making music that I absolutely love. I listen to Spiral all the time. Brain is my second favorite.
I'm really looking forward to this one! Maybe Tony will chime in after the sessions with his thoughts and how it went! |

I'm really looking forward to this one! Maybe Tony will chime in after the sessions with his thoughts and how it went! | I was turned on the Hiromi from the clips that are posted of her trio in concert on youtube. I really like the tunes on those clips that are from her first two or three CD's. In terms of composition, jaw dropping chops, musicality and groove "Time Control" is one of my favorite recent albums. Tony manages to get a tone on his Fodera that is bass heavy but has a ton of clarity and presence without having to go the route of using alot of treble. The guitar player is crazy good;those doubled keyboard/guitar heads are unreal.

You hit it dead on about Tony's tone. I am not a fan of boosted treble and sizzle in any way. Some guys love the Marcus type tone. That's great for them! But I don't like it at all. So when I heard Tony play for the first time, I fell in love with his tone. It fits the music perfectly and sounds great solo'd. A great combination.
I know you're talking about Fuze concerning the unison lines, but Tony is no slouch when it comes to that either! One of the aspects of Anthony Jackson's playing that I've always greatly admired is his ability to play unison lines with just about anyone or anything. Even across his 36" scale bass. Tony is right there with Anthony on that. His doubling with Hiromi makes me sit back and say wow everytime I hear it.
Do you have the 'Spiral' album, Keith? It's great too!
I can't wait for the new album! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
