I saw this yesterday, I'm pretty pumped, Jason is my favorite Metallica bassist, and the rest of the group is pretty awesome too. Iommi IS metal.

Most supergroups are so short-lived. I see where they come from, though. Players know one another from touring and, I'm assuming, jamming together casually for years and years. It's only natural that they'd want to do something together officially. But that initial burst of creativity wears out... supergroups are more like a fling than a marriage.

This sounds cool, though. I hope the name is just good-natured self-deprecation and not an omen of the quality of the record.

I see this ending very badly, and that's not just my disdain for Newstead talking.

Enjoy it while it.'s there! Besides, I did prefer Cliff, but recently Jason has been creeping in...

Ian Gillan - Best voice in Rock, IMHO
Tony Iommi - Riffmeister persuivant.
John Lord - I thought he retired. Listen to 'Lazy' and not be moved...
Nicko McBrain - Nice fella, and a solid drummer.

Good cause, I guess, and it sounds pretty cool.
I don't think they are planning on touring the world in a 747.
Ending well? They'll probably have a nice party and exchange numbers and remain friends.
Why not?

what band doesn't end very badly?

IMO the whole supergroup thing is a gimmick though, its like you take parts from 5 different makers' sports cars, somehow build 1 car out of them and now, whoa, you have one supercar!

Two words. Rockstar Supernova.

Lost all respect for Newsted when he whored himself to that garbage, and I was a HUGE fan until then.his subsequent work with Voivod and Echobrain I found thoroughly underwhelming.

But nearly twenty five years on, Doomsday For The Deceiver is still a classic, with an awesome bass performance. You can see why the big boys wanted him.... His little solo run in the song 'metalshock' is brilliant.
