I'm listening to Maxwell's album 'Now' and i strongly recommend it. the basslines on this are groovin' me right now. in the liner notes it credits Michael Neal, Stuart Matthewman and Hod David for bass. ring any bells? anyone know what else they play on.
If you want to download a few tunes to hear what i'm talking about i would suggest 'Changed', 'Temporary Nite' and 'Get To know Ya'. Funky indeed. peace.

I've been a huge Maxwell fan for years. "Now" is definitely funky, but in a smooth sort of way; my favorite track for bass is definitely the last one. For more active funkiness, check out his first one, "Urban Hang Suite." A little less processed, and some awesome bass work.
