Hey check this bassist out:http://nikwestbass.com/index.php?page=1

I don't know what it is, but there sure a lot or really pretty and talented young women turning up on bass lately! As a lover of women and the bass, I could not be happier.

I was just checking out her ad in BP for SWR.

There are some clips of her on YouTube.

I've seen her before. She had the first ever 6 string Fender Jazz I've ever seen. I never knew Fender made 6 string jazzes before I saw her with one. She's got a very nice tone and grooving style too.

She has a Steve Bailey, but fretted, IIRC.

Wow! Fender, and SWR endorsements. and a modeling career to boot. Where are these talented new artists coming from? Pretty impressive.

Wow and now a TB thread

Nik is workin it and it seems to be paying off for her. She's also a very nice person. I wish her well.

Btw, I think she just picked up those endorsments at the 2009 NAMM show (?)
She had been playing Ibanez 6ers before the Steve Baileys.

I don't think her CD is out yet. I will get it when it "drops." She really makes me think of an Erykah Badu who can play her own bass while she sings. I hope she makes it big! I know my daughters will love her.

Well well well! Yet another female musician who plays well and happens to be a bassist. I think there's a pattern here.

Since Tal doesn't sing and play, she is a different kettle of fish than Nik. The snippets of Nik I heard have that nice alternative soul/funk vibe that is really my favorite sort of music.

I know many Tal fans are offended by any suggestion that her gender may have help her, but I think it is pretty clear that Nik West's gender looks have helped her get the attention she has so far. Once again, it is backed up by talent, but music is an entertainment business, and a pretty woman with talent is very entertaining for a whole lot of people.

I like the way those Steve Bailey Sig Jazzes sound! I'm going have to pick up another Jazz V as soon as I can.

Actually, Nik is very talented. Yes looks help because it is very rare that u will see a supermodel gal on bass. I bet it is harder because folks are looking harder at her and so she really has to lay down the groove. Nik Esperanza Spalding and Tal should do something like vic...stanley..and marcus did. would be great.
