No love for Jesse F. Keeler from DFA1979?

I never hear fellow bassists ever talk about Jesse F. Keeler from Death From Above 1979. He may not be very technical in his playing or have the greatest technique, but he basically created an iconic bass tone and playing style, and definitely influenced most of my playing even though the music I play sounds nothing like DFA. Is there any reason he never gets mentioned often around here? Just curious because it seems like he is one of the more under rated bassists I know of.

I dig his sound (and DFA1979 in general) a lot, but it's not too different from what you'd hear from, say....Trans Am. Or other, earlier post-rock-type bands.

And apologies for using the "post-rock" term but it's become so ubiquitous that I can't help it.

I think the fact that he stopped playing bass (at least in the public eye) had a lot to do with it.
