Not to keep up the man-crush on Entwhistle or anything but...

I'm sitting here listening to Pandora at work... I have it set to be my "king Crimson" station...

Of course, if you've used Pandora, you know what that means - it bounces all over... So up comes The Who, from Live at Leeds... "Sparks".

Holy cow... What was rock bass before Entwhistle? I'll tell you: It wasn't squat. Lord, he *was* rock bass. What tone! What timing!

Live at Leed & Isle Of Wight were amazing bass recordings.

I would also like to point how much better I like Pete's guitar work with his single coil P-90 SG guitar than his later Les Paul & Fenders

If you love him so much you could at least spell his name right.

He was one of my big influences. Love his "typewritter" technique.

He was rock's bass God, no doubt in my mind. I listened to Quadrophenia again last night and just marveled anew at his ability and musicianship.

You beat me to it.
Always struck me as kinda funny how Entwistle seemed to be missing an H and Townshend seemed to have an un-needed one.

You know, I did notice how nice his guitar sounded while listening, I just didn't put it together that it was a different axe so much as he was playing it differently - more open sounding chording vs just big windmill chording...

No matter - it did sound nice, and now I know why!

John said in his bass book that he thought Pete got the best sound out of his SG's. I agree as well. I've never cared as much for his Strat tone that he uses now. Too thin.
