Arthur Barrow (Arthur plays w and w/o pick) | I believe Monk was an early Precision bass player.
Correct me if I'm wrong, though. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, though. | I have an interview from the 1970s era Guitar Player where he is playing a block inlayed Jazz Bass with flats and vaseline on his hands to aid in gliding around. I guess I should have said late Monk Montgomery, he did play a Precision first.
I also have a 70s era Monk Montgomery electric bass method with a line drawing of Monk playing the same bass on the cover.
A couple of more:

Several other players played the band Fender, so this may have been another player in '58. It does look like Monk, though. |

I think it'll be easier to choose pick players of note - and those who MUST use a pick. In other words, Mc Cartney played with a pick but it isn't a style that cannot be duplicated with fingers.
Chris Squire on the other hand... |

Also Lee Sklar on early James Taylor (Lee had a 65 with an interestingly carved body that he did himself).
