Any Norwood love? The guy just makes me shake my head in a combination of awe and appreciation. I've been a Fishbone fan for about 15 years, and watching N'wood (replete with white towel of course)anchor Angelo's hyperkinetic stage activity is spectacle not to be missed. For those not in the know, check out the man and his 3 'unusual' right hand techniques on BassPlayerTV.

I'm really not familiar with most of Fishbone's stuff but I used to listen to 'em back in the early 90's. Still love "Bonin' in the Boneyard". Norwood is one of the main reasons I fell in love with Warwick basses.

He's one of my all time favorites. Any idea what he's been up to lately? Fishbone went through like 9 different guitarists and I kind of lost all track of them.

One of my favorite songs by Fishbone came off the Last Action Hero soundtrack. I don't know if it was on any of thier studio releases. oh yeah, the song is Swim.

Norwood is a great player. A little while ago I heard "Ma and Pa" (from the Truth and Soul album) for the first time in years and Norwood's playing blew me away. I ran home that night and had to transcribe his bassline. Now if I can just get the band I'm in to cover the tune...

Check out is playing on the album The Reality of my Surroundings. His tone on "Sunless Saturday" and "Fight the Youth" is awesome. Growl for days.

Fishbone was awesome... watch them absolutely kill it live on the Arsenio Hall show.

That's on "Give a Monkey a Brain and He'll Swear He's the Center of the Universe." Super heavy album, produced by Terry Date (who did a lot of work with Pantera).

Swim was off the album Give a Monkey a Brain and He Will Swear He's the Center of the Universe. IMO, it was their last great album.

Bonin in the Boneyard and When Problems Arise are the tunes that made me learn to slap.

Found Fishbone through a fellow bassist Chris Gilbert from Australia. He has a sweeeet Fishbone tattoo on his calf. I'm now a fan of Fishbone as well... Till now I can't figure out how to play Bonin' in the Boneyard up to speed.

>_<

I think they're magnificent. Cross all genres. And Norwood Fisher always being their backbone. Sweet music from there.

Norwood was one of my biggest influences in high school. Back then (89-92) people were always asking if I could play Rush and Chilli Peppers on bass. I'd say "Yeah but I can also play 'Bonin' In The Boneyard', don't you want to hear that?"

Reality of My Surroundings and Truth And Soul are my favorites by them. After Kendall left it all went down hill. Norwood and his brother Phillip are one of the greatest rhythm sections PERIOD.

Ain't that the truth.

I haven't followed Fishbone recently though. It's only Norwood and Angelo plus a horde of other dudes. It's not the same.

I will agree that Give A Monkey A Brain ... was their best album..

I'm diggin' on Truilio Disgracias of late, which is odd because I'm not into weed culture or reggae. But, a good groove can transcend all of this.

I'm glad somebody mentioned Trulio. When I saw them last year they had Edwin Birdsong in tow! Doing a little too much reggae for my taste though... and not enough Norwood! He's like the frontmand and part-time bassist, like Bootsy has become. Too bad.

The CD I picked up was tight though

Fishbone!

...anyone else remember the "It's a Wonderful Life (we gonna have a good time)" song that they did in the late 80s? If not, take a look at YouTube. The bass line isn't necessarily the most complex, but the song is absolutely KILLER (plus the video is hilarious). I love Fishbone!
