NYC suggestions?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm going to be in NYC during July and was wondering if any of you that are familiar with midtown could give me some suggestions on catching some music. I will be with my kids (18 and 20) and their "friends".

Going to be staying near Times Square...

Last time we were there we did catch Arturo O'Farrell at Birdland (Alex Gonzalez on bass I think it was)...very cool show, but hoping to catch something else.

Any ideas?

Is that the style of music your kids are into? Super curious...

Why didn't anyone ever tell me bossa nova sounded so good?

Pretty much. My son (the 17 year old) is a drummer. Has a ska band, but his favorite artists are Art Blakey and Billy Hart...and then the next minute he's got Tiger Army on...so pretty eclectic tastes. They all appreciate good musicianship...we're all going to see Less Than Jake, Big D and the Kids Table and Suburban Legends the week before in Chicago .
