this is the greatest metal related fretless playing i've heard since digiorgio in death.

| | | | Did you guys listen to "Cosmogenesis"? It's freakin' AMAZING! And I can hear the bass. I'm not new to Metal music but 99% of the metal bands I listen to, it's next to impossible to really hear what the bass player is doing, well, Control Denied was also great.
Any recommendation to bands like Obscura, i.e. technical (doesn't have to be prog) metal bands w/ great bass lines that you can actually hear.

| | | | Obscura is a freakin awesome band! I'm a big fan of technical/progressive death metal. I've been listening to Decrepit Birth a lot lately. More on the progressive side of death metal, think Cynic mixed with At The Gates and Death. I'd reccommend them for sure. |

| | | | Thank you all for these great suggestions, I'll check them out. I already know about Spiral Architect, but Amazon has just one album for them, is that all?
If Amazon is not a good place to get metal CDs (which by the way is freakin' expensive there ~$15 each), where do you buy your metal CDs/mp3s from?

However I don't feel that Anitcosmic Overload is the best example of Thesseling's playing in the band, Choir Of Spirits is great, and I'd suggest anyone to check out his solo in Orbital Elements. I love the arabic influence he brings to the sound, and his use of the 72-tone temperament adds an amazing flavour.

Amoeba and Rasputin music in Berkeley and San Francisco, and Streetlight Records in Santa Cruz. Usually independent stores have pretty good prices, big used sections.

But you're talking about the band.
Anyhow, do yourself a favour and check that album out too!

I'm pretty that's what influenced the name of the band.

They were never signed, the only place I know to hear them is on Jeroen's website. http://www.jeroenthesseling.com/audio.htm

Thesseling is reportedly taking a break from German death metallers Obscura. http://gunshyassassin.com/news/obscu...ul-thesseling/ |
