Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes- he's a solid bass player who should be more recongnized for his sweet riffs.

Dave "Zander" Alexander of The Stooges. Listen to the Funhouse album. NOW.

Dennis Dunaway from the original Alice Cooper band.

David Wm. Sims of Scratch Acid and Jesus Lizard.

Dave Allen of Gang of Four and Shriekback.

Here a pic of Nikolai. Can often be seen off in a dark corner of the stage, riffing off his sweet licks while every pays attention to the singers and guitardists.i

Eddie Breckenridge of Thrice, his tone and lines are pretty sick.

Takeshi Taneda- studio bassist heard in music found in video games, anime series, and some live performances. Excellent bassist, but rarely heard of. Did a lot of basswork for sega games with the in-house group Crush 40.

Alex James of Blur. "Modern Life is Rubbish" was the first CD I ever owned, maybe ingraining the need to become a bassist later in life? His lines are very involved and melodically McCartney.

I've actually heard a lot of sweet bass playing in some anime series and video games and stuff. Might be him?

Brian Gibson

He's is a large influence of mine. Not totally unknown or anything but not exactly Jaco popular.

It's very well possible. He does quite a lot of work. One definite series he did basswork on was the concert scene towards the end of the series "Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" where the fictional band Enoz is playing. The bass in the video is actually modelled after his Lakland Bob Glaub P-bass but also made to look like a 60's vintage fender P-bass as some sort of hybrid between the two.

I see that Rockette Morton was mentioned in the original thread on January, 2003, so I won't bring him up again.
