From Wikipedia

"On October 23, 2006, Newsted was injured while attempting to catch a falling bass amp head. The accident resulted in a torn anterior labrum in his left shoulder and a rotator cuff and biceps tear in the right. He was scheduled for immediate surgery, and underwent a lengthy rehab process. Newsted has been out of the public eye ever since."

When I saw "Old Metallica Bassist" I thought we were going to talk about Cliff. Then I realized we were on the DB side. Two strikes, one for calling Jason Newkid the "old" bassist, two for posting on this side.

Actually, their OLD bassist was Ron McGovney.

I was just thinking that. They've had 4 bassists. "The old one" isn't very descriptive.

Totally true. Actually, I can top that: Metallica's first bassist (according to Wikipedia... eh?) was James Hetfield. They did a version of Hit the Lights for a comp called "Metal Massacre" and Hetfield played bass on it.

Now there is something to not care about!
