I think Mike was talking about the bassist the original poster was asking about- this thread isn't actually supposed to be about Jimmy Haslip

BTW, I looked at a couple of other YouTube vids of the same girl/group (Tokyo Jihen), and there's some good stuff. This song though.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7O-I...=tokyo%20jihen
Perfectly good song until about halfway through, the guitarist apparently start...rapping about his guitar.

Man, it is SO totally worth it to hear

Plus, after listening to a few of their tracks, I really like this group. The originally linked song isn't great, but most of the others are. Apparently you can only get the albums on import

Thanks for the heads-up. I guess I got side tracked.

Joe

Thanks

And Haslip's worth getting side-tracked about- IMO he's the best walker on electric out there, and his solos are always great.

I play the same way. It's a function of a lefty starting on a right handed bass without modifying it.

Wow so he's playing a left handed bass, strung right handed, and he's ....gasp...right handed?!? I guess it's back to the woodshed for me. I know a drummer who can play with his sticks upsidedown, yes he uses the butt end to hit with, maybe they should form a band.

Well, don't know about the tunning. But the fact is that he plays with the fat string down where the thin string should be.

Right. That's what I think about Mr. Haslip; however, I don't know for sure.

I play bass left handed.

I can play with a left handed bass right side up. Or a right handed bass upside-down. Each gives me a different style too.
