I didn't see a poll..also, you can't ask for opinions and not accept those that are not positive.

So you're asking people's opinions... unless they're negative. In any case, I voted!

I voted he was horrible. And not only is he a horrible bassist, he's not much better as a person.

But you seem to be looking for a big yes/kiss ass vote. And if that's the case, perhaps a Kiss site would be the best home for this....

I have no opinion of Gene Simmons.

Rock 101. That's not a bad thing... beginners need songs to play, too.

To be totally honest, Gene Simmons was one of the reasons I started playing bass, many years ago. I still think he's OK.

Poll:

A] Rocks!

B] Rocks!

C] Rocks!

D] Doesn't Rock. {Option D is currently offline and not a valid choice}

I can see how useful this compiled info will be.....

Notable Simmons accomplishment:

Gene has proven that there's no such thing as a decent looking toupee no matter how much money you have to spend on one.

Exactly!

"I want to know your opinion, unless it's bad".

Davis, are you Gene in disguise?

I don't know how I got it, but I found a Kiss DVD set yesterday and watched it today. His playing (referring to the live stuff) fit the songs. Nothing fancy. I found the tone of his basses to be bloody awful though.

You're only going to get good opinions if people can't say bad ones...
What's the point in a question like that. Anyhow, I voted he's horrible. Because he is.

Oh hell yeah... I used to dress up as the Demon for halloween in the 70's. I used to own a copy of Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park. He made bass cool... and then when I started playing, I learned his parts. I was less impressed. Got to start someplace though

i did not vote because this choice is not there: He's an amazing marketing genius and businessman, and a very, very mediocre bassist.

a friend of mine lent me a box set of kiss live. it was about 6 hours long and it took me about a half an hour to go through it. not gene simmons specifically, but the whole band are just unbelievably average. i like a few songs by kiss but for the most part if it wasn't for the makeup and costumes they would've been just another bar band trying to play their way across the usa until they got fed up and got real jobs. i voted he was okay, that's about as positive as i can be.
