There's a good bit of Oteil on youtube. He is my absolute favorite bassist. He's the reason I picked up the bass after seeing the allmans in 2003. I got to meet him this summer after a Tedeschi Trucks Band show. He is a very cool genuinely nice guy. Anyway back on topic. I have that whole Herbie album and thats really the only song I really like on it. I hope you have checked out the Tedeschi Trucks Band's album Revelator because it's really good. Go see them live if you get the chance because they may have been the best concert I have ever seen.

Thanks for sharing this.
Real nice!!! The playing is"on", the vibe is real good and the sound quality is alright also:-)
Nice!!

I found a herbie version of don't give up too.
....pink is great on that song!
No idea who played bass, but that is the major let down for me in this song. I am sure that person can play but too many notes are played for my taste and not in the most tasteful manner either at places.
Perhaps the player was too lazy to learn the original line or not able to pull it off...I don't know...shame, given they could have hired anyone they wanted!
Does anyone know who played bass on that song?
Pink is fantastic tho I think...and a real nice guitar solo as well!
It sounds Jeff Beck-ish to me, anyone know who played that solo?

I'm pretty sure it's Tal on Don't Give Up.

If you are playing with Herbie he doesn't expect or want you to play the original line. The bass players and the artists choice and taste as to which line they chose to release.
