Oteil & The Peacemakers in St. Louis!

Sign in to disble this ad
Oteil & the Peacemakers will be at Harah's St. Louis Casino and Hotel February 8 at 9. The cool thing is that there is no cover charge!

This would be a great time for area TB'ers to meet and say hello.

I am putting this one in the Palmpilot for sure!

OOPS! That for the correction. I am really looking forward to seeing Oteil Burbridge. That man can play chords on bass like nobody's business!

i saw them in troy ny a couple years ago in a small jazz club. he sat at the table next to me while the opening band was playing. i was in awe. hands down my favorite player i have seen live...and he leads the band amazingly as well. definitely go see him if you can!

Hello, all

I saw them last month at the Bamboo Room in Lake Worth Florida. Small intimate bar/club, great show. He is a really great singer, too. Gave his all to a small crowd.

If you come to South Florida, the Bamboo Room is a great venue. It's a blues bar with great national acts. I recently saw Sue Foley, and Duke Robillard there, too. Late night shows, cool mixed drinks, and draft beers, great music, how can ya beat it?

Glad to be helpful Al. Between you and KJung, I know who will be the worst player in the house by far that night - me!

Oteil is mind-blowing, simply put. I can't think of any current bassists whom I like more (there are a couple whom I like just as much, such as Vic Wooten and Tom Kennedy).

I have to give him special credit for the manner in which he transformed his playing style to suit the Allmans. I saw him with the Allmans on his first tour with them and I thought he was a poor fit. At that time, he sounded more like "ABB+ Oteil" and it just wasn't working. Saw them with him a year later and it was a COMPLETELY different story! He was channeling Berry Oakley! He even switched basses to get Berry's tone.

He is a great person and an amazing musician. He's one of the musicians whom I'd like to meet most.

what I don't get...
why is he playing a Fender? The Tractor was an EB-0, wasn't it? (albeit a mutated one)

The tractor was a Jazz with an EB-O or Guild (Darkstar) pickup in the neck position.
