But he often played sparse parts complimented by JE's busy bass lines especially live). I still don't know whether the OP thinks there were too many bass notes in that clip of such a "simple song" or if he is totally wowed by how many notes John could get away with playing.
I think his bass part works.

But after you watch the video, go back and listen to the track with everyone playing. I never noticed all those notes. I'm not saying remove them, I'm simply saying that for all his gymnastics, it is so clear that you don't even notice how intense the bass part is. |
